Grizzlies to Host 2014 Frontier League All-Star Game

Gateway Grizzlies LogoPRESS RELEASE – The Gateway Grizzlies have released their 2014 schedule.  Gateway will play four exhibition  games and 96 regular season games in 2014. The 2014 All-Star week, presented by the Casino Queen, will begin on July 14th and end July 17th at GCS Ballpark.

Gateway Grizzlies All-Star Game“We are honored to be chosen to host the All-Star game,” Grizzlies General Manager Steve Gomric said.  “Our plan is to put on a tremendous show for our fans and the league.  The league will also be able to see that the best fans in baseball are here at Gateway.”

The 2014 Frontier League All-Star week will include a Fan Fest, All-Star/Hall of Fame Luncheon, All-Star Home Run Derby and it finishes up with the 2014 Frontier League All-Star game on July 17th.

Gateway’s first exhibition game takes place on the road May 6th at Southern Illinois.  The Grizzlies first home exhibition game will be against the Miners on May 7th.  The Grizzlies exhibition schedule also features a home game against the Wichita Wingnuts of the American Association on Saturday, May 10th.

Gateway will play their first six games of the regular season at GCS Ballpark.  The Grizzlies open up regular season play on Friday, May 16th against Traverse City.  Gateway follows up their three game series against the Beach Bums with a three game set against Joliet.

For the second straight season the Grizzlies will have every Monday off in June and only three off days in August.  Gateway will play 14 home games in June and are once again at home for the 4th of July week.

The Grizzlies will stay in the West Division with the Joliet Slammers, Normal CornBelters, River City Rascals, Rockford RiverHawks, Schaumburg Boomers and Windy City ThunderBolts.
