Navigators’ Media Relations Director Steps Down, Replacement Announced

North Shore Navigators New LogoPRESS RELEASE – It may be the off-season at Fraser Field for the North Shore Navigators but the front office is still hard at work. On Thursday afternoon, General Manager Bill Terlecky announced that Director of Media Relations, Joe Gill, has stepped down and has been by replaced by Kevin Maggiore and Chris Podymaitis. The announcement comes only a week after the Navigators announced that Manager Jon Cahill will return for the 2014 season.

“I have had an incredible three years with the Navigators,” said Gill. “Moving forward, I would like to pursue work more in line with my college degree, which is politics. I want to thank Salvi Sports for the confidence they put in me on a daily basis, especially Bill (Terlecky) who gave me a shot to stay in the city that I love, spending time around the game that I love.”

Maggiore and Podymaitis are no strangers to the Navigators family, as they both served as media interns last season. Maggiore, a 2012 graduate of Saugus High School, is currently a sophomore communications major at Endicott College. Maggiore can be heard as the host of the Shankhour and Maggiore show on CLNS radio.  A self-proclaimed “die-hard” Boston sports fan, Maggiore spent most of his time broadcasting games live for the Navigators this season. “I was extremely excited when Bill offered me this position,” said Maggiore. “This season we had a lot of fun and I look forward to working with Chris to continue the success that Joe had during his tenure with the Navs.”

Podymaitis, a 2010 graduate of Somerville High School, is currently a senior sports management major and psychology minor at UMass Amerst. Chris was a utility man for the Navs media relations team this season as he gained experience in many different areas within the press box.

“Although we will miss Joe in here on a daily basis, the hire of Kevin and Chris gives me great encouragement for the future of the press relations team,” said Terlecky. “They both have a great work ethic, and I have no doubts that they will make sure we do not miss a beat. And as for Joe, he is not going far, as I told him whenever I need something I know he is only a mile down the street.”
