This is just bad reporting all the way around…The Atlantic League has never approved a team in Malden owned by Bok, it’s not like Virginia Beach where an application and membership has been granted…why does everyone assume Atlantic League, not to mention with this new diamond league and Bridgeport likely moving to it, Malden is far from the Atlantic League Map being closest to Long Island which is a long ride. Secondly, $500k per year for a land lease of roughly 9 acres? I can’t imagine the Atlantic League approving or standing by such a poorly structured deal. I am going to go on a limb and say this doesn’t happen…

I assume there is either a contingent deal on deck or the Atlantic League is taking an interested wait-and-see approach. True or not, the article does state that “The CEO of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball…is scheduled to visit the site in September.” I don’t recall any other leagues being mentioned in connection with the Malden project, and I don’t recall the Atlantic League denying any interest in Malden or the potential owner. I guess we’ll see.
