PRESS RELEASE – The Martinsville Mustangs are pleased to announce the addition of a new LED scoreboard to Hooker Field. The scoreboard includes an LED message panel on the top, as well as LED panels for each spot on the board including a customizable spot for each team.
The scoreboard was funded by all of the organizations using Hooker Field including: Patrick Henry Community College, Martinsville Recreation Association, Martinsville High School Bulldogs, Martinsville Mustangs, and the City of Martinsville.
The biggest difference in the new scoreboard is the addition of an LED scrolling message panel running across the top. The message board will be able to show player information, game information, special messages to the fans, as well as advertising.
The old scoreboard, which was put in at Hooker Field in 1988, was “completely outdated” according to Chris Parker, vice president for institutional advancement at PHCC.
“Replacement parts became hard to find and the scoreboard was not completely operational throughout the course of a game,” Parker said.
The new scoreboard will be used for the first time on Thursday night as the Martinsville Mustangs host High Point-Thomasville HiToms at 7:05 p.m. at Hooker Field.
“The new scoreboard will definitely enhance the viewing ability for all of the fans in the ballpark,” Tyler Parsons, Mustangs general manager, said. “It is a wonderful addition to Hooker Field.”
