As previously posted, Sterling (CO) was recently awarded a franchise by the summer collegiate Mountain Collegiate Baseball League. Because the project to install lights at Northeastern Junior College’s baseball field won’t be completed until this summer, coupled with a desire to have more franchise start up time, the team will not take the field until 2014. To bolster the effort, the Logan County Commission on Tuesday approved giving the Logan County Chamber of Commerce $5,000 to help market and promote the new team. Read more here.
