PRESS RELEASE – The Springfield Sliders have named veteran Springfield radio personality Chris Murphy their new P.A. voice at Robin Roberts Stadium for 2013. The 49 year-old Murphy is a 33 year radio veteran with 30 years of play-by-play experience. Chris has done play-by-play work in hockey, basketball and baseball. He is currently the Operations Manager and Morning Personality for Springfield radio station 98.7 WNNS. After growing up in the upper Midwest as a die-hard Minnesota Twins fan, Chris has been in Springfield since 1995.
“Chris is going to bring a great energy to Robin Roberts Stadium this year. His extensive years in the radio industry will certainly be of benefit and his love of sports and Springfield is a perfect match for us going forward,” said Shane Martin, owner of the Sliders. “We want Robin Roberts Stadium to be an entertainment destination for the entire community and bringing Chris on board is going to help us increase the “fun” factor at Slider games this year.”
“I’m really excited to get the opportunity to fire up the fans at Robin Roberts Stadium”, said Murphy. “Working with Denny Martin and the Martin family will be great, as they share my passion for great local business. I look forward to bringing even more excitement to Sliders games in 2013”, said Murphy.
When not leading cheering Sliders fans, Chris can be found at 98.7 WNNS, where he does mornings with partner Vanessa Ferguson. Murphy enjoys going to minor and major league ballparks with his two daughters Meagan and Hannah. Chris’ high-energy style and passion for Sliders baseball will be a great fit for our great fans at Robin Roberts stadium!
