PRESS RELEASE – Coming off of a record setting season, the defending Freedom Division Champion Lancaster Barnstormers plan to make the 2013 season a real blast.
This season, the Barnstormers ninth at Clipper Magazine Stadium, will be marked by a record 22 fireworks shows, including one after every Saturday home game. Adding an explosive new twist for 2013, fans will be closer to the action than ever before as the Barnstormers have scheduled five of the shows to be launched from the field itself. As if that weren’t enough, for the first time in Barnstormers history, fans will be treated to two laser light shows on June 29 and July 27, bringing new dazzling color to the ballpark. Most fireworks shows will also feature the popular post-game parties on the field where fans have the opportunity to mingle with and get autographs from their favorite Barnstormers players and Cylo, and close the evening with playing catch on the outfield lawn.
But the pyrotechnics are only the beginning. A powerhouse lineup of special guests, coming from a galaxy far, far away to a pineapple under the sea, will be on hand at Clipper Magazine Stadium to greet their fans throughout the season. Among those scheduled are:
- Buzz and Woody from Toy Story (April 21)
- Iron Man (May 26) Star Wars Characters (June 30)
- Sully and Mike from Monsters University (July 2)
- Gru from Despicable Me 2 (July 13)
- Donatello from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (July 28)
- SpongeBob SquarePants (August 18)
- Over 40 renowned clowns from Clown Fest 2013 (August 23)
- Elmo (September 1)
And, there will be giveaways. Among many others scheduled for the 2013 season, fans will be able to obtain:
- A bobblehead series featuring Butch Hobson, Lance Burkhart, and Ross Peeples
- Barnstormers Wall Calendar
- Barnstormers Scarf
- Barnstormers Trucker Hat
Many favorite theme nights are also returning to the schedule in 2013.
Once again this season, there will be a huge array of annual dates to celebrate the students of the Susquehanna Valley. Baseball in Education Day is slated for May 7, while three Read with the Barnstormers Nights honoring students for their reading achievements are also on the docket for May (11, 24, 25). School Spirit Nights to celebrate the accomplishments of students and staff from individual school districts, which became extremely popular last season, again dot the early schedule. The Barnstormers will recognize several school districts for their outstanding work including Conestoga Valley, Donegal, Warwick, Hempfield, and many others.
And the kids can keep right on coming throughout the summer when the Barnstormers invite boy scouts and girl scouts to sleep under the stars in the outfield of Clipper Magazine Stadium on the annual Scout Sleepover nights on June 15 and August 23 with a special Girl Scouts Night on July 26.
Our four-legged friends will have their day in the sun, too, with Bark in the Park on September 1. Santa will be back for Christmas in July on July 25. Faith and Family Night presented by WJTL and featuring the Steven Courtney Band is ticketed for June 14.
The Barnstormers have aligned with several non-profits to celebrate their agencies. April 21, the first Sunday home date, will be set up for Relay for Life while the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation will be lauded for their work on Sunday, June 2.
And there’s more! Every week has recurring deals for adults, families and lucky fans.
Sundays will be Family Days at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Parents and children can once again play catch on Lancaster’s own Field of Dreams prior to the game while autographs with select players will also be available. Following each Sunday game, kids can run the bases just like the pros.
New for 2013, each Tuesday home game will be a Two-Buck Tuesday. One Barnstormers item will be on sale for just $2.00 on the various Tuesday evenings. $2 cheeseburger night and $2 nacho night are among some of the deals fans can look forward to.
Wednesday marks the return of the popular Wings and Beer deal in the Wheatland Suite on Clipper Magazine Stadium’s upper level.
The Barnstormers are also introducing Thirsty Thursdays for the best in Atlantic League pre-gaming. From 6:00-7:00 p.m. every Thursday home game, 12-ounce domestic drafts will be only $2.00.
Finally, Friday is for winning and we can’t wait to send some lucky fans home with A BRAND NEW FLAT SCREEN TV. While the Barnstormers battle to take down their foes on the field, one lucky fan will walk away with a new flat screen TV every Friday home game.
This is only a sample of what is in store for Barnstormers fans in 2013. The club is working diligently to add more giveaways, more weekly specials, and all sorts of crazy antics. The fun all begins on Opening Day, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. when the Barnstormers take on the Camden Riversharks.
