Mike Friar, VP of Baseball Operations for the summer collegiate New Bedford Bay Sox (New England Collegiate Baseball League), will add general manager to his title, after GM Andrew Cormier stepped down. One reason given for Cormier’s resignation is that “his work location has shifted to Providence,” which tells us that team’s GM role is not a full-time gig. Read more here. If the Bay Sox want to climb out of the attendance cellar and play with the big boys, they need a full-time GM focused solely on the business operations.
