The City of Kenosha is close to finalizing a deal with the owner of the Madison Mallards to launch a new summer collegiate Northwoods League franchise at Simmons Field starting in 2014. Consistent with the proposal first floated last spring, the developing agreement calls for the city to spend $750,000 for ballpark renovations. In addition to lease payments that could total $300,000 over 10 years, the team would pony up $250,000 in year one and another $250,000 by the end of the lease term to help with stadium improvements.
