The state of West Virginia has approved a tax-increment financing (TIF) district for University Town Centre in Morgantown, which is the targeted location for a proposed new $15 million ballpark for the West Virginia University (WVU) Mountaineers and possibly a minor-league baseball team. Using TIF dollars to actually build the stadium still has to be approved. Read more here. Meanwhile, WVU announced last month that the Mountaineers will play nine Big 12 Conference games next season at Appalachian Power Park, home of the Single-A West Virginia Power (South Atlantic League) in Charleston.
