With word coming down that a deal to sell Capital City Stadium to a Walmart developer was finalized, talk turned to the future of the the summer collegiate Columbia Blowfish (Coastal Plain League) — the stadium’s primary tenant. Some figured the Blowfish were done, but owner Bill Shanahan says they will be back one more year, as the stadium might not be torn down before next season. Shanahan is also pushing for a new $6 to $8 million ballpark for the Blowfish that could be expanded for house a future Single-A club. Read more here. Thanks to John Cerone for the link.
