Crews Begin Demolishing Ray Winder Field

Demolition crews began tearing down Ray Winder Field, former home of the Double-A Arkansas Travelers (Texas League), on Monday to make room for a new parking lot for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), which bought the property last October for $1.3 million.  Read more hereView farewell slideshow here.

    What makes it “historic”?
    Many ballplayers hang on to either accumulate pension time, claim dubious records or will work on the cheap – doesn’t make them hall of fame candidates. Same with parks, especially ones that don’t have revenue-generating futures, baseball franchises are businesses.
