Lugnuts Replace GM

PRESS RELEASE – Lansing Lugnuts General Manager Patrick Day is leaving the team after six seasons and will be replaced by Lugnuts Assistant General Manager Nick Grueser, the team announced today.

A native of western Massachusetts, Day had served as Lugnuts General Manager since February of 2007. “The past six years have been filled with fantastic moments and memories,” said Day. “It was a difficult decision to leave, but I am confident that the team is in good hands with Nick.”

Grueser, a product of Wilmington College, joined the Lugnuts in 2001. He ascended to the role of Director of Sales in 2003 before becoming Lansing’s Assistant General Manager during the 2006-2007 offseason.

“We’re proud to name Nick as the Lugnuts’ General Manager,” said co-owner Sherrie Myers. “With his experience, energy, knowledge of the industry, and understanding of the Mid-Michigan community, there is no one better suited for the role.”

One of the pre-eminent teams in the Minor Leagues, the Lugnuts broke national attendance records when they debuted in Michigan’s state capital in 1996. The franchise continues to rank among the top baseball teams in the nation in merchandise sales.

“This is a tremendous honor,” Grueser said. “In the 11 years since I first came to Lansing, I’ve learned how important the Lugnuts are to our region and how respected we are in the Minor Leagues. I’m excited to be given this opportunity and I look forward to putting my own personal imprint on the team’s commitment to customer service.”

“There is an outstanding tradition of Lugnuts General Managers taking the team to new heights,” said co-owner Tom Dickson. “Patrick Day set a superb benchmark, and we’re confident that Nick will follow suit.”

Nick Grueser is expected to officially take over the team on July 9.
