PRESS RELEASE – The Nashua Silver Knights, of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England, are slated to take on the Lowell Spinners, Class A Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, in an exhibition game this Friday, June 15 at 5 p.m. at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, MA.
Both organizations are managed by the same operation and owned by Drew Weber. This marks the first time to the two teams will play each other. Admission to the game is free.
“The Red Sox approached us about the possibility of setting up this exhibition game and we were thrilled to oblige,” said Silver Knights President Tim Bawmann. “This is a phenomenal opportunity for the Silver Knights players to play a professional team in front of the Red Sox operations staff.”
Futures League commissioner, Chris Hall, echoed that statement saying, “We are extremely grateful to the Lowell Spinners and the Boston Red Sox for giving an FCBL team the chance to play a minor league team.”
First pitch for the exhibition is scheduled for 5 p.m. and gates will open at 4 p.m. Seating is General Admission and the Spinner Concessions Stands will be open during the game.
The game will represent the first look at the 2012 Spinners, including many of the 2012 Draft Picks. The Spinners roster includes a slew of high draft picks including outfielders Williams Jerez (2011, 2), infielder Mookie Betts (2011, 5) and Kendrick Perkins (2010, 6).
