Grizzlies Announce 2012 Promo Schedule

PRESS RELEASE – The Gastonia Grizzlies Baseball Club announced today the promotional schedule for the 2012 season. The schedule is highlighted by Jimmy Buffett Night on May 31st and Hot Dog Heaven on July 18th. Jimmy Buffett Night will feature live performances from the Tsunami Wave Riders and Blind Manifest, and an appearance from the Parrotheads. Hot Dog Heaven will celebrate the love of hot dogs with all Nathan’s Hot Dog’s only $0.25 for the entire night!

All new in 2012 is Mighty Dollar Monday’s where everything is $1 including tickets, hot dogs, chips, candy, soda and beer! Mighty Dollar Monday’s are scheduled for June 18th, July 2nd and July 9th.

On June 7th, the Grizzlies will welcome violinist Stephen Neil for “Electrified with Stephen Neil night” on June 7th where Neil will play throughout the night, including playing the player entrance songs and being involved in all of the promotions.

On June 21st, the Grizzlies will welcome Jeff Hall and Rusty Bumgardner for a Home Run Derby exhibition prior to the game.

One of the biggest highlights of the year will be on June 23rd as the Grizzlies will welcome the U.S. Military All Stars to Gastonia for the annual “Salute to Troops Night.”

The two biggest promotions from 2011 are back with the “3rd Annual Midnight Madness Game” on July 27th and the “Great Community Give Back Game” on July 29th. “Midnight Madness” won best promotion in all of college summer baseball at the Summer Ball Conference in 2010 while the “Great Community Give Back Game” won best promotion for 2011.

Other highlights for the 2012 season include Bark in the Park on June 3rd where fans can bring their dogs to the ballpark. The 5th Annual Grandma Beauty Pageant is schedule for June 5th and the Grizzly Man Night is scheduled for June 12th where Grizzlies will seek to find the hairiest man in Gaston County.

Three fireworks nights have been scheduled by the Grizzlies for June 2nd, July 3rd and August 2nd. On the June 2nd Fireworks night the Grizzlies will host the ring ceremony and celebration for the 2011 CPL Champions Grizzlies.

“Our promotions are a big part of what we do each year and we see each game as a different event at the ballpark,” said Managing Partner Jesse Cole. “This year is no different as we have planned outrageous giveaways, exciting theme nights and fantastic family fun. Our goal is to make our fans understand that unless they come to the ballpark, they will miss something.”

The Gastonia Grizzlies are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 930 alumni drafted and 48 alums – including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander – make their Major League debut thus far.
