Ron “Jaws” Jaworski, Larry Bowa to Co-Captain Celebrity Softball Game

PRESS RELEASE – Preceding the 2012 Atlantic League Softball Game presented by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, there will be a star-studded celebrity softball game presented by “Jaws Youth Playbook” at Campbell’s Field.

The game will support two area non-profit organizations – Jaws Youth Playbook and Kisses for Kyle. Jaws Youth Playbook supports the health and wellness of at-risk youth in the community while advocating the access to safe play and healthy choices. Kisses for Kyle was founded in honor of Kyle Snyder, who lost his life to cancer in 2001, and offers a variety of services to families fighting childhood cancer in the Delaware Valley.

ESPN NFL Analyst Ron “Jaws” Jaworski and Former Phillies Manager and MLB Network Analyst Larry Bowa will co-captain the event. Bowa will lead “The Champions” team, managed by Michael Barkann and fielded with players from the Phillies 1980 and 2008 World Series Championship teams. Jaws will lead “The Legends” team, managed by Ike Reese and comprised of Philadelphia area legendary athletes.

“I am so excited to work with Larry and our celebrity friends to raise funds for two important causes,” said Ron Jaworski, President of Jaws Youth Playbook. “Campbell’s Field is an amazing setting for this showdown and I guarantee it will be an awesome experience for the fans.”

“I am very excited to be a part of this event and to help support the Kisses for Kyle Foundation and Jaws Youth Playbook,” said Larry Bowa, MLB Network Analyst. “Both organizations do wonderful work and I am happy to be included with Ron Jaworski for this charity softball game.”

The four-inning condensed game will utilize standard softball rules, a temporary wall on the field and humorous antics throughout the game. To have an opportunity to shine, each player will bat every inning. Spectators are encouraged to visit the silent auction on the concourse level and enjoy the celebrity softball game complete with fan/player interaction between innings. There will also be a post-game Meet-and-Greet as well as a jersey auction.

The list of current and former athletes as well as media personalities who will join Jaws and Bowa in the celebrity softball game is growing. To keep an eye on the celebrity filled roster or to learn more about the celebrity softball game, keep checking riversharks.com or visit JawsSoftball.com.
