PRESS RELEASE – Themes are in this season, ladies will have their own night, and Friday is all about Happy Hour at Borleske Stadium. With less than 60 days until the start of the 2012 season of West Coast League baseball, the Walla Walla Sweets announce their promotional schedule.
Opening Weekend 2012, presented by Northwestern Mutual and the offices of Aaron Swanson, will begin with Opening Day on Friday, June 1, against the Corvallis Knights and conclude on Sunday, June 3 with a fireworks show following the game. The first premium giveaway will be on June 4 when season ticket holders will receive a 2012 magnet schedule courtesy of Northwestern Mutual, 1490 ESPN Walla Walla, and the Union-Bulletin. This season the Sweets will offer premium item giveaways on Saturdays, with season ticket holders guaranteed to receive the item. Some of the other great giveaways fans can look forward to this season are a cowbell, a fleece blanket sponsored by Holiday Inn Express, and lunch sack sponsored by Abajian Toyota/Scion.
“With opening day just two months away, the front office and fans are gearing up for another season of Sweets baseball,” said Zachary Fraser, general manager for the Sweets. “We’ve got a great schedule that provides fans with some of our traditional promos that we’ve all come to love, as well as great new additions that will truly enhance the fan experience.”
This season the Walla Walla Sweets have made new additions to the promotional calendar. Corresponding with the fan-favorite 6 for $36 nights, presented by Les Schwab Tire Centers, will be Theme Nights, presented by Basel Cellars. Fans will enjoy music, fashion, and theme-based food and drink options that celebrate each unique theme. Special prizes will be awarded to the winning fan(s) each night. Themes this season will include 80s Night, Luau, and Christmas in July.
Two more new additions to the schedule are Ladies Night, presented by Bergevin Lane Vineyards, and Happy Hour presented by Laht Neppur Ale House. Ladies Night will take place on Thursdays and feature manager-selected drink specials for ladies of all ages for the entire game as well as 15% off merchandise in the Sweets Shoppe at Borleske Stadium for ladies. Come out on Friday after work and enjoy Happy Hour at the stadium with manager-selected specials on Laht Neppur and other select draft, select fountain sodas, and select concession items.
Kids Days presented by Community Bank, and $2 Tuesdays will round out the weekly promotions. Featured promotions this season will include July 4 Independence Day, presented by Les Schwab Tire Centers, the July 24 All-Star game, presented by NAPA Auto Parts, and a Bark in the Park Night on July 26. Sponsored by Blue Mountain Humane Society, the Sweets will allow fans to bring their dogs to Borleske Stadium for the evening for $1, with all proceeds from the dog tickets going to Blue Mountain Humane Society.
“Every year we try to create a schedule that makes the fan experience fun and memorable, while still being affordable” said Katie Baxter, director of marketing for the Sweets. “We’ve added some great new promotions and are looking forward to welcoming everyone to Borleske Stadium for another great season.”
