Devereux Meadows to be Recognized

Devereux Meadows will now be turned into a park, which city planners say will include “a marker or display area that tells the history of Raleigh’s romance with the national pastime.”  Devereux was an old ballpark in Raleigh (NC) that was razed in 1979 to make room for the city’s sanitation fleet.  Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski played there as a member of the Class B Raleigh Capitals in 1959.  The Class A Raleigh-Durham Triangles played the last baseball game at the stadium in 1971.  Read more and view ballpark photo here.
