PRESS RELEASE – While this whole winning the championship thing will never get old, it does present a challenge. How does a team make Opening Day exciting each year? How about by selecting one fan to represent ALL Revolution fans and receive an authentic championship ring alongside the players on the Sovereign Bank Stadium field?
On May 1, the Revolution will have the pre-game championship ring ceremony as they did in 2010, but with a special twist this time. The team has ordered one extra ring: And will give it away to a fan during the ceremony that evening. To be clear, this is not a replica, but a REAL 2011 championship ring, courtesy of Garrick Jewelers.
If fans don’t already have their tickets for the home opener, now would be a good time to reserve their seats, and be early on the day. The first 1,000 fans through the gates on May 1 will receive a special scratch-off card. One of the cards will be for the grand prize of the same championship ring the Revolution players and coaches will receive on the field in the pre-game ceremony.
Every fan with a card will be a winner in some form however, as the others will have various prizes including over-sized replica rings and discounts from Garrick Jewelers and the Revolution.
The winner of the ring will be asked to join the Revolution on-field as they receive their rings, and will be presented their prize on the field during the ceremony. The winner of the fan ring will be the representative for ALL Revolution fans who helped make these back-to-back championships possible!
“Being fortunate enough to win a championship is a unique and special thing, and thanks to our players and coaching staff, we have the opportunity to have this unique and special promotion for a very lucky fan,” said Revolution President & General Manager Eric Menzer. “After all, without fans, while we still could play the game on the field, it certainly wouldn’t be the same! They’re the point of the whole thing, and the way our fans have embraced our teams is pretty special, so it was important to us to add a fan element to this year’s championship celebration.” Menzer also added a big “thank you” to Garrick Jewelers for sponsoring the promotion.
(The ring will come pre-sized. If the winner would like it re-sized, they would have to do so on their own.)
