Hotel Development Could Pay Homage to Former Padres’ Home

A new hotel complex and public park that are expected to be part of the redevelopment of Lane Field, former home of the Pacific Coast League’s San Diego Padres from 1936 – 1957, could celebrate the old ballpark.  According to UT-SanDiego.com, Jerry Trammer, project executive for the Lane Field development, is quoted as saying the following:

“One idea is to celebrate the original baseball stadium by having a replica of home plate in the same location where it once was and to also replicate the base pads and the pitcher’s mound,” said Trammer. “And the foul line would shown with in-ground lighting.”
