Having team officials talk about possible franchise shifts is a non-story since they can’t comment on something that hasn’t happened yet. Of course Anthopolos is going to say there are no plans to change their AA affiliation … until there are plans. And of course the BMets are going to deny they are selling the team … until its sold.

I agree with you, Brian. And, I think Anthopolos stating that this is the first he has heard about this doesn’t pass the straight-face test. I also think that Beacon Sports wouldn’t be making a move to Ottawa without some kind of discussion with the Blue Jays.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see the Jays stay tight with the Fisher Cats until they actually see how the Ottawa franchise performs. If they move their affiliation to Ottawa, and Ottawa tanks, then they’ll be forced to look for another partner. They’ve already got a good thing going in Manchester with a relatively new facility and strong fan support. But, I also think it’s important to keep in mind that affiliation is a two way street. Is NH happy with the Jays as a parent club? If I were running NH, and our PDC was about to run out, I might be trolling for a new parent club that would bring more value. Forget the Red Sox and the Yankees. I don’t recall if the Red Sox had a problem with the Mets or not.

Hey alan since new hampshire doesnt have any plans on going to ottawa does this mean binghamton going or still early to tell?

There were never any plans (proposed or actual) for New Hampshire to go to Ottawa. For some reason, some reporters didn’t quite understand that it would be the affiliation, not the team, that would make the move. The Fisher Cats aren’t going anywhere.
