PRESS RELEASE – There is a new club in the Midwest Collegiate League. The Illinois Lincolns of Will County will join the league for the 2012 season. The Lincolns will play out of Wayne King Jr. Field located on the campus of Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois.
The Lincolns become the 7th club of an expected 8 team circuit for the Midwest Collegiate League in 2012. The Lincolns join the Chicago Zephyrs, DeKalb Liners, DuPage County Hounds, Rockford Foresters, Southland Vikings, and Will County CrackerJacks. An announcement on an 8th club is expected in the coming weeks.
The Illinois Lincolns will be owned and operated by Eloot Sports and Entertainment, the owner/operators of the Will County CrackerJacks. Eloot Sports and Entertainment was awarded an expansion club for Joliet and Will County in November 2011.
I believe there was a team set to go in Kankakee. I seem to recall a “name the team” contest. Did that team go away, or will it be the 8th team?
I heard about Kankakee & Whiting, IN, assuming one of those will be the 8th team?
There was an announcement about Kankakee back over the summer:

I don’t know where they stand right now. Whiting has been talked about, with the new Oil City Stadium there.
