The Double-A Binghamton Mets (Eastern League) have been one of the teams rumored to be relocating to Canada, if Beacon Sports of Boston locks in a deal to use Ottawa Stadium. Could the Mets’ current merchandise clearance sale be a sign? Start shopping here. Thanks to John Cerone for the heads up.
B-Mets Fire Sale?

Thanks for the info, guys!
I suspect bmets would eventually be a great fit for ottawa and a ny-penn team for the binghamton area would be a great idea but who knows lets just wait and see
Skylands Park Tax appeal should be resolved in the coming months.
This would allow a potential buyer to get a better idea of the annual costs of running the stadium. This is a necessary first step in getting a team to use the facility.
Agreed. As long as the tax issue is outstanding, Skylands will remain in limbo. Hopefully, the annual tax liability will be lowered sufficiently to make the park financially feasible to use. Thanks for the update, Robert.
I suspect the Mets would love to get into New Britain, but the Twins seem pretty firmly entrenched there. I don’t see why the Red Sox would care if the Mets put their farm team in Manchester – I just think they don’t want the Yankees there.
Dan, no word about Skylands Park recently. I believe it is still for sale, so until there is a buyer, putting a team there seems unlikely. I wish they would at least get a collegiate league team there.
True. I could be mistaken but I thought with Erie it is owned by a group (Mandalay?) that is interested in relocating but not necessarily interested in selling the team. There’s been mention about Montreal. I’m curious about the ensuing affiliation shuffle game. I read the Red Sox won’t allow a NY team to play in Manchester. It would be great if the Mets could get into New Britain. I think it would be a mutually beneficial relationship.
Has anyone heard ANYTHING about the ballpark in Sussex County, NJ? Will that just be allowed to whither away?
I saw that one of the Ottawa writers was speculating the same thing. But if you look at the merchandise that is on clearance, it is junk. I don’t think you can read anything into a team having a clearance sale. I’m curious as to why all the focus has been on the BMets moving when it could just as likely be Erie.
The Ottawa paper this morning is saying B-Mets too. I guess we’ll see.
