Deal to Bring Double-A Ball to Ottawa to be Announced Friday

The City of Ottawa has reportedly reached a tentative long-term deal with Beacon Sports of Boston (MA) to bring a Double-A Eastern League team to the capital city beginning in 2013.  The city is apparently planning to pump $6 million into Ottawa Stadium to bring it up to par, while Beacon will pony up $3 million.  If the deal happens, expect the team’s affiliation to eventually be the Toronto Blue Jays.  Read more here.
