Colts Name Riggs New Broadcaster

PRESS RELEASE – The San Angelo Colts have named David Riggs as their Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the 2012 season. Riggs will broadcast every Colts game on the radio this summer. Riggs was chosen to replace Ira Liebman, who became the Event Marketing Manager for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Liebman spent seven years as the “Voice of the Colts”.

Riggs, 26, was the Broadcasting and Media Relations Assistant for the Rockford RiverHawks of the independent Frontier League in Loves Park, Ill. in 2011. Prior to joining the RiverHawks, Riggs spent the 2010 season as the Broadcasting/Media Relations Assistant for the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the independent Atlantic League in Waldorf, Md.

“We are excited to bring David on board for the 2012 season,” Colts General Manager Mike Babcock said. “This will be his first full-time broadcasting job, but I believe his experience with other organizations around the country makes him well prepared to handle the responsibilities here in San Angelo.”

Riggs is a native of Westfield, N.J. and graduated Boston University in Boston, Mass. with a degree in broadcast journalism. In his senior year, Riggs did play-by-play for the Division I BU Terriers women’s basketball team.

“I am looking forward to getting involved in the community, and bringing Colts fans every game over the airwaves this summer,” Riggs said.
