PRESS RELEASE – The Erie SeaWolves, Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, announced today an extension of the team’s lease agreement with the Erie County Convention Center Authority for the use of Jerry Uht Park. The new two-year extension runs through the 2014 season.

“We are pleased to extend our agreement with the Erie County Convention Center Authority,” SeaWolves President Greg Coleman said. “These are exciting times at the downtown sports and entertainment campus, and we’d like to thank Casey Wells, his staff and the ECCCA Board for their continued partnership.”

The Erie SeaWolves began play at Jerry Uht Park in 1995 as the Short-Season A New York-Penn League affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1999, Erie welcomed the Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Anaheim Angels to town. In 2001, the SeaWolves began their current affiliation with the Detroit Tigers. 2014 will mark the 20th consecutive season of professional baseball at Jerry Uht Park.

“The SeaWolves offer first-class, family entertainment, and we’re excited to extend our partnership with the team through the 2014 season,” stated Casey Wells, Executive Director of the Erie County Convention Center Authority.

The SeaWolves Home Opener is Thursday, April 12, 2012 as the team hosts the Bowie Baysox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.
