PRESS RELEASE – Fresh off of winning his 5th career general manager of the year award, Keith Lupton was promoted to President of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and minor league baseball veteran Joel Seiden was named General Manager of the team in announcement today. Lupton will focus on providing strategic direction and continue to lead the Blue Crabs in its community involvement. Seiden will focus on the day to day operations of the ball club.
Seiden, 29, originally from Scarsdale, New York, comes to the Blue Crabs after serving as the assistant general manager of the Camden Riversharks. Seiden brings a wealth of experience in all aspects of minor league baseball including partnership sales, marketing and promotions, and facility operations while working in Camden for six years. “I am excited about this opportunity,” he said. “I am looking forward to building upon our community relationships and continuing to promote our team as the most affordable family entertainment option in Southern Maryland.”
The Blue Crabs finished the season with a 65-57 record overall, with a third-consecutive trip to the playoffs, under the direction of Lupton. “Joel is immensely qualified and more than ready for this opportunity,” Lupton said. “He has been in the baseball industry for many years now and is ready to make the 2012 season, which marks the fifth anniversary of the Blue Crabs, the team’s best ever,” he said.
Seiden and the Blue Crabs also named Brian Radle as the club’s assistant general manager. Radle has been in the minor league baseball industry for six years as well. He started with the Camden Riversharks working in corporate partnerships followed by a position with the Lancaster Barnstormers as the director of events and entertainment, primarily focusing on enhancing the game day experience for fans and team partners.
With the addition of Seiden and Radle and the promotion of Lupton, the Blue Crabs are poised to make the 2012 season an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages. “In addition to the celebration of our 5th anniversary, we are already working on some new and dynamic promotions and entertainment that will make 2012 the most exciting season yet,” Seiden promises.
