PRESS RELEASE – Any Sacramento River Cats fan with the first name “Michael” (Lewis), “Billy” (Beane), “Brad” (Pitt), “Jonah” (Hill) or “Robin” (Wright) will receive a 10 percent discount on River Cats 2012 Season Tickets during the week following the premier of the feature film “Moneyball.”
“Moneyball,” a movie about how General Manager Billy Beane helped guide the small-market Oakland A’s (Major League affiliate of the Sacramento River Cats) into a World Series contender during the 2002 season, premiers Friday, Sept. 23. The 2002 A’s featured former River Cats Eric Byrnes, Mark Ellis, Jeremy Giambi, Terrence Long, Carlos Pena and Barry Zito.
To this day, the River Cats continue to be instrumental in Oakland’s success. This season, Sacramento sent up second baseman Jemile Weeks, catcher Anthony Recker outfielder Michael Taylor and pitcher Graham Godfrey, among other talents.
To celebrate the movie’s release, the River Cats are offering a one-week-only discount on season tickets for fans who share a first name with the movie’s lead players — Academy Award-winning actor Brad Pitt (“Fight Club”, “Ocean’s Eleven”), actress Robin Wright (“Forrest Gump”), actor Jonah Hill (“Superbad”), author Michael Lewis (“The Blind Side”) and A’s General Manager Billy Beane.
Fans who share those first names will receive 10 percent off 2012 Season Tickets in the Senate seat location. The offer is available through 5 p.m. on Friday, September 30, by calling 916-371.HITS. The HITS line is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Fans who purchase the “Moneyball” package will also receive a complimentary copy of the movie’s DVD (upon DVD release).
