PRESS RELEASE – Competition at Whitaker Bank Ballpark usually involves baseball, but the home of the Lexington Legends will be the site of what might be the world’s largest pillow fight Sunday, September 25 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The American Cancer Society is holding the event in partnership with the Legends in an effort to increase exposure for the Hope Lodge in Lexington, which provides free overnight lodging for cancer patients and their caregivers. A five-dollar donation at the gate will provide an opportunity to participate in the pillow fight and a chance to win prizes, including an iPad 2. All proceeds will support the American Cancer Society.
“This event will be yet another first at Whitaker Bank Ballpark,” said Stephanie Fish, the Legends’ director of community relations and ballpark entertainment. “We are eager to see almost 4,000 people pillow fight for a good cause.”
Organizers hope to break the record for the number of pillow fight participants. The current mark, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, is 3,708.
Participants must bring their own pillows. Football fans can keep up with National Football League action, which will be shown on video boards, and concession stands will be open. For more information, media requests or to RSVP, call the American Cancer Society office at (859) 260-8350 or send e-mail to Krista.Greathouse@cancer.org.
