Milwaukie (OR) Trolling for NWL Team to Fill New Ballpark

As we previously posted, the city of Milwaukie (OR), a suburb of teamless Portland, is pursuing a new 4,000-seat ballpark for a yet-to-be-determined Single-A Northwest League franchise.  The Yakima Bears are the obvious target, particularly if Vancouver (WA) stumbles, but based on attendance numbers and the quality of the ballparks, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Tri-City (Pasco, WA) Dust Devils, owned by George Brett, or the Everett (WA) AquaSox being tempted, if the project moves forward.  The Boise Hawks are desperate for a new ballpark, but we don’t see them giving up the Boise market, unless stadium talks there completely break down.

Interestingly, the city has partnered with Mike Higgins, former senior vice president of Portland’s PGE park, to find a team.  He is reportedly already in discussions with several team owners.  Read more here.
