PRESS RELEASE – Greenville and the Upstate is known for it’s rich baseball history, in particular the textile and mill league team’s that were full of talent at the start of the 20th century. These leagues produced the likes of “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, Lou Brissie, and Joe Anders.
On Sunday, July 31st the Drive will honor many of these textile league teams, as well as recognize players, at Fluor Field with Mill League Night.
Against the Charleston RiverDogs, the Drive will wear throwback uniforms highlighting many of these textile teams. Each of these jerseys will available for fans to purchase through a silent auction.
Winning bidders will get to go down on the field following the game to get their jersey straight from the Drive players and coaches.
Each jersey will feature a different textile team, with the following being represented: Simpsonville, American Spinning, Dunean, Pacolet, Union Bleachery, Southern Bleachery, Startex, Camperdown, Mills Mill, Monaghan, Brandon, Apalache, Easley, Judson, Ware Shoals, Liberty, Lyman, Inman, Ninety Six, Victor, Pelzer, Woodside, Poinsett, Fork Shoals, Poe Mill, Woodside, Piedmont, Drayton, Slater, and Glenwood.
