PRESS RELEASE – The first-place Reno Aces open the second half of the season Thursday with an eight-game homestand, highlighted by Johnny Cash Weekend, a pair of Coors Light Thirsty Thursdays™ presented by Lotus Radio and Reno News & Review, and a Saint Mary’s Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4.
The Aces open the homestand with a four-game series against the division-rival Colorado Springs Sky Sox Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
Thursday’s game will kick off Johnny Cash Weekend-set for Thursday through Saturday-during which the Aces will wear black Johnny Cash jerseys, play Cash’s music, give out 2,500 Johnny Cash t-shirts and welcome John Carter Cash (Johnny’s son) and Laura Cash (Johnny’s former bandmate and daughter-in-law). The t-shirt giveaway is set for Thursday’s game, while the Aces game jerseys will be auctioned off for charity after Saturday’s game.
Thursday is also Coors Light Thirsty Thursday™ presented by Lotus Radio and Reno News & Review. Fans can purchase a special ticket for $12, which includes a game ticket, limited edition mug and one free fill-up of Coors or Coors Light. All fans 21 & older can enjoy $2 drafts of Coors and Coors Light until the fifth inning.
Friday’s 7:05 p.m. tilt is another Saint Mary’s Fireworks Friday presented by KRNV News 4, with a post-game fireworks show immediately following the conclusion of the game. Fans can visit the Saint Mary’s Facebook page to vote for the soundtrack to be played during the pyrotechnics.
Also on Friday, the Nevada Colon Cancer Partnership will be on hand as the Charity of the Night, and will present a special pre-game performance by Dr. Poo and the Buttkickers.
At Saturday’s 7:05 p.m. contest, the Aces and NV Energy will be giving away 2,000 energy-efficient light bulbs during the game. In addition-as with all Friday, Saturday and Sunday games-kids 12 & under are invited to run the bases after the game, presented by Dr. David Welmerink.
Sunday, July 17-a 1:05 p.m. matinee-is another Renown Children’s Hospital Family Funday. Fans can participate in the popular baseball bingo game, with a chance to win great prizes upon “blacking out” their bingo cards. Also on Sunday, 2,500 fans will receive Reno Aces beach towels, presented by KOLO 8.
On Monday, July 18, the Aces welcome the Fresno Grizzlies-the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants-for the first time this season. All four games of the series are set for 7:05 p.m.
The series continues on Tuesday with the season’s second Dollar Bone Night presented by KTVN Channel 2 News. Fans can get ribs for just one dollar apiece, and are encouraged to get to the game early. During the first Dollar Bone Night, the limited supply sold out by the second inning.
Wednesday is another two-for-$22 game, where fans can get two tickets, two hot dogs and two sodas for just $22. The homestand concludes on Thursday, July 21 with another Coors Light Thirsty Thursday™ presented by Lotus Radio and Reno News & Review.
