Bisons’ Billionaire Owner Goes Soccer, Goes Hollywood

Rich Products Chairman Robert E. Rich, Jr., the billionaire owner of the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons, has created a little entertainment news buzz by his decision to sponsor the Bedlington Terriers FC, a ragtag, blue-collar semi-pro soccer team from across the pond that has been struggling to stay afloat for years.  There has been so much interst in this true underdog story that the team is now touring the U.S., and Hollywood has already come knocking.

Rich’s investment:  a mere $100,000.  But don’t expect him to keep pumping money into the team.  According to Rich, the franchise must become self-sustaining, and he’s providing a little Sports 101 to educate the Terriers’ management about successful sports team operations.  Read more here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.
