PRESS RELEASE – It was too little too late for the Okotoks Dawgs in their home opener as they fell to the Medicine Hat Mavericks by a score of 15-10. A crowd of 2,789 packed Seaman Stadium to see the new-look Dawgs squad in action. The Dawgs were able to put up 8 runs in the final four innings, but could not hold off the Mavericks as they maintained their lead throughout the game. Both the Mavericks and Dawgs combined for 36 hits on the night.
Catcher, Mike Maddle (Gulf Coast CC) had an impressive performance at the plate, going 5-5 on the night boosting his batting average to .538 early in the season. J Dawg alumni, Tyler Hollick (Chandler Gilbert CC) went 3-5, recording a double and 3 RBI. Both Austin Voros and Bryce Baugh had homeruns late in the game in the comeback effort.
The Dawgs remain at home to face the Lethbridge Bulls Friday night at 7:05 for Elvis Night at Seaman Stadium.
