The summer collegiate Prospect League has taken over the Nashville Outlaws and will operate the club during the 2011 season. The founders of the 2010 inaugural franchise notified the league in March that they would not be returning. If the team is to survive beyond this year, a new owner will have to be found.
For the 2011 campaign, the team will move from Vanderbilt University’s Hawkins Field to Lipscomb University’s Dugan Field, in an apparent cost-saving measure. Last year, the Outlaws reportedly averaged 1,080 fans per game. We suspect the attendance was significantly less than this, or the owners wouldn’t have been so quick to pull the plug. Read more here.
