PRESS RELEASE – The Gastonia Grizzlies Baseball Club announced the promotional schedule today for their 10th anniversary season. The schedule is highlighted by Las Vegas Night on June 2nd, Jersey Shore Night on July 23rd and the “Great Community Give Back Game” with Dig for the Diamond on July 31st. The “Great Community Give Back game” will be the first of its kind for the Grizzlies as the game will be completely free for the entire community and the first 1,000 fans will receive a free dinner voucher. Facet Foundry Jewelry Studio will be sponsoring the “Dig for the Diamond” after the game.
The Grizzlies will give complete access to fans with both the Facebook Fans night and Fans Batting Practice Night. On Facebook Fans night on June 21st the Grizzlies fans will choose the starting lineup for the Grizzlies, the uniforms, the promotions, the food and drink deals and all the events for the night. On July 10th all fans will have the opportunity to take batting practice on the field before the game.
The two biggest promotions from 2010 are back with “Midnight Madness” on June 24th and Team USA traveling to Sims Park on June 30th. “Midnight Madness” won best promotion in all of college summer baseball this past fall at the Summer Ball Conference. Team USA was rained out last year but is back again in 2011.
Other highlights for the 2011 season include the first Bark in the Park on June 6th where fans can bring their dogs to the ballpark. Teen celebrity Justin Bieber will be celebrated on July 29th with giveaways and dances all night.
Three fireworks nights have been scheduled by the Grizzlies for June 4th, July 2nd and August 2nd. Opening Night is May 31st and the Grizzlies will unveil all the new renovations at Sims Park and all the new promotions for the 2011 season. Box seat season tickets are sold out for the season but single game tickets are still available at http://www.gastoniagrizzlies.com.
“Our promotions are a big part of what we do each year and we see each game as a different event at the ballpark,” said General Manager Jesse Cole. “This year is no different as we have planned outrageous giveaways, exciting theme nights and fantastic family fun. Our goal is to make our fans understand that unless they come to the ballpark, they will miss something.”
The Gastonia Grizzlies are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 15th season in 2011, the CPL features 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 800 alumni drafted and 44 alums make their major league debut thus far.
