Mavericks, Adelanto Team Up to Improve Playing Field

PRESS RELEASE – Main Street Baseball LLC, the new owners of the Mavericks, brought Steve Bush, of Bush Sports Turf in Milan, Illinois, to do a field survey and make recommendations on field improvements. Bush is an industry leader in sports turf installation and maintenance, and its long list of clients include the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and the University of Iowa. Bush Sports Turf also recently completed a $570,000 total renovation of the field at Main Street Baseball’s other facility, Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport, Iowa.

“When we bought the team a few months ago, our top priority was to make the ballpark better for the fans and the players,” said team owner Dave Heller. “We owe it to the Mariners and our fans to ensure that our players have a quality field that plays fairly and safely, and we appreciate the City of Adelanto working with us to make this happen.”

“It is a refreshing and positive partnership that the City of Adelanto and the High Desert Mavericks’ new ownership has entered into. With this new partnership, we are confident that greater improvements can be made to Stater Bros. Stadium to enhance not only the players’ experience, but that of the fans too.” said City Manager, D. James Hart, Ph.D.

The work performed on the Mavericks playing field consisted of installing new sod on the infield, replacing the mound, home plate clay area and the base areas, rolling the outfield and infield turf, adding 30 tons of clay to the infield and warning track area and laser grading the infield to ensure that the field is level and safe for play.

“The Seattle Mariners are extremely happy with the strides the Maverick’s organization has made to improve the field conditions at Stater Bro. Stadium” said Seattle Mariners Director of Minor League Operations Pedro Grifol. “It’s a real testament to the dedication and hard work they put in towards our players’ development, and we look forward to opening day on April 14th.”

“It has been a real pleasure working with the folks with the City of Adelanto since we took over the operation of the team,” said Vice President Kirk Goodman. “We are both very dedicated to making the ballpark successful and we are grateful for their assistance and support in helping achieve that goal.”
