Kinston Looking Toward the Future, Keeping an Eye on the Keys

As you know, the Single-A Kinston (NC) Indians will be relocating to Zebulon (NC) after the 2011 season, which will leave historic Grainger Stadium without a tenant.   Current K-Tribe majority owner Cam McRae is optimistically working with others to find a replacement franchise, and he’s keeping a close eye on the Single-A Frederick  (MD) Keys, which could become homeless if they lose their battle with the indy pro Atlantic League for the rights to Harry Grove Stadium.

There may be a variety of options for Kinston, but we continue to believe the best fit the for the small community of just over 22,000 would be the summer collegiate Coastal Plain League.  The league is a high-end summer circuit that would provide stability and longevity for baseball in Kinston.  Read more here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.
