Lunkers, United Way Announce Partnership

PRESS RELEASE – The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers of the Northwoods League announced today that the Lunkers and the United Way of Crow Wing and Southern Cass Counties have teamed up in a season-long partnership, General Manager Dustin Anaas said.

One of the highlights of this season-long partnership is the addition of United Way Wednesdays to the Lunkers’ home schedule.  During each Wednesday home game, beginning June 1 and ending Aug. 3, the United Way and its partner organizations will receive special recognition at the ballpark for all the good work they have done in the Brainerd Lakes Area. “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Lunkers and excited about the opportunity to showcase some of our local non-profits,” Monica Nieman, Executive Director at United Way noted.  “This is a great way to connect with the community.”

Fans can also purchase Lunkers tickets from the United Way and its partners in an effort to raise over $10,000 for the United Way of Crow Wing and Southern Cass Counties and its member organizations as well.

“The United Way and its partners work tirelessly throughout the Brainerd Lakes Area to help those in need,” Anaas said.  “With our United Way Wednesdays, we can plan to showcase these efforts to let our fans know what a large impact these organizations make in the Lakes Area.”

The Lunkers home opener, presented by Cub Foods, is Wednesday, June 1 at Stewart C. Mills Field. Game time is 7:05. For more information call the Lunkers office at 218-824-3474 or visit http://www.lunkersbaseball.com.
