PRESS RELEASE – The Gary SouthShore RailCats have plenty of exciting theme nights planned for third homestand of the season, June 16-23, and have announced the third phase of the crowded 2011 Promotional Schedule.
The RailCats look to build on the foundation of fun, affordable family entertainment by taking the ballpark experience to the highest level and enhancing the atmosphere and environment at The Steel Yard at all 50 home games. The RailCats are bringing back a number of fan favorites, but be on the lookout for the new, exciting promotional nights and giveaways as the RailCats announce the promotional schedule in waves over the coming weeks.
Mardi Gras Night – Thursday, June 16 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. St. Paul Saints
A renewed rivalry with the St. Paul Saints means the RailCats are throwing a Mardi Gras style party to celebrate as U. S. Steel Yard will be transformed into Bourbon Street (a family friendly version of course!). There will be of party surprises all night long and at least one parade so this is a day you sure won’t want to miss!
Mystery Autographed Bat Giveaway and Faith & Family Night – Friday, June 17 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. St. Paul Saints
The RailCats are adding a new twist to a classic giveaway in 2011, as not only will the first 500 fans receive a wood bat from our friends at Hoosier Bat and courtesy U. S. Steel Gary Works, but the bats will also be randomly autographed by a RailCats player or coach. However, a few lucky fans will receive a bat autographed by the entire 2011 RailCats squad so make sure you arrive early as these are sure to go fast! The RailCats will wear special throwback uniforms courtesy U. S. Steel Gary Works which will be auctioned off during the game with all proceeds going to charity. Place your bids in McShane’s SouthShore Depot and claim your prize off your favorite player’s back on the field after the game. This night also features another RailCats classic in Faith and Family Night. The ‘Cats invite baseball fans of all faiths to gather at U. S. Steel Yard and enjoy a game together with special group discounts available for any congregation!
Skateboard Giveaway and X-treme Sports Night – Saturday, June 18 @ 6:10 p.m. vs. St. Paul Saints
One of your favorite giveaways from 2010 is back with a brand new design as the first 1,000 kids to walk through the U. S. Steel Yard gates on this night will receive a real wooden skateboard courtesy Salvi, Schostok & Pritchard and The Times. Join the ‘Cats as they take X-treme Sports Night to the max featuring a salute to some of your favorite gravity defying sports.
Bark in the Park – Sunday, June 19 @ 2:10 p.m. vs. St. Paul Saints
Celebrate Father’s Day with the RailCats and your entire family, including man’s best friend! The RailCats invite fathers and sons to have a catch in the U. S. Steel Yard outfield after the game, but that’s not all. Bark in the Park Night also means that dogs are most certainly allowed on this night so bring out the entire family, as Rusty and Rascal move into hiding when The Steel Yard is taken over by puppies and pooches.
Halloween Night – Tuesday, June 21 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks
Who says Halloween is only one day a year? The RailCats (and Rusty in particular) will be handing out candy to fans (with the good stuff going to fans with the most creative costumes) but you also receive a special ticket discount when you come in character. This night will feature a number of other spooky surprises including a special appearance by the ghost that haunts The Steel Yard, so you won’t want to miss it!
Hippie Night – Wednesday, June 22 @ 7:10 p.m. vs. Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks
“Bring your own drum” is in effect as the RailCats pay tribute to the psychedelic sights and sounds of the 60’s with Hippie Night. The peace and love movement will always be remembered as a pivotal point in our nation’s history and the RailCats will be celebrating with some of your favorite music of the era in addition to a number of other facets of this cultural phenomenon.
Green Day and Youth & Senior Day – Thursday, June 23 @ 11:10 a.m. vs. Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks
The RailCats celebrate the “Go Green” initiative with this night but included will be a salute to the color green, one of the official colors of your favorite Northwest Indiana Baseball Team, with music from Green Day and other special “green” items. The RailCats also invite local youth camps and senior groups out to this annual event, with a special 11 a.m. start time and special group ticket discounts.
