PRESS RELEASE – Rockford RiverHawks fans who travel to Wrigley Field this season will hear a familiar voice. The Chicago Cubs announced Friday that they have picked former RiverHawks announcer Andrew Belleson as their new public-address announcer.
Belleson spent part of five seasons in multiple broadcasting roles with the RiverHawks. At 15, Belleson joined RiverHawks home radio broadcasts in 2002 and spent four years on air. In 2007, Belleson was one of the team’s public-address announcers.
“We’re excited for a former member of the organization to be in one of the most prominent roles in baseball,” RiverHawks general manager Brad Sholes said. “We wish him luck.”
The 24-year-old Arlington Heights resident played college baseball at Concordia University – River Forest.
