PRESS RELEASE – The Barnstormers are gearing up for the most exciting season yet! A thrilling, fun-filled season awaits, with a variety of promotions to delight every fan. The 2011 Storming Red season of Barnstormers baseball will feature 18 fireworks shows, 23 giveaways, six special appearances and BRAND NEW weekly promotions including Senior Tuesdays, Girls’ Night Out Wednesdays, Getaway Thursdays, Beer and Wing Thursdays, Facebook Fridays and Sunday Sliders!
The season’s festivities will commence with a jam-packed opening weekend Friday, April 29 to Sunday, May 1. A Las Vegas-themed opening night will feature a 2011 schedule magnet giveaway, sponsored by Securus, and in the spirit of a lucky 7th season one lucky fan will win a three night stay for two at Harrah’s in Atlantic City! Opening night will also feature the first fireworks spectacular and post-game party of the season. Saturday, April 30 will be the first of three Read with the Barnstormers nights. This season more than 40,000 students have enrolled in the program, each earning a FREE youth lawn ticket for reading four books outside of the classroom. Fans can also stick around for fireworks after the game! Sunday, May 1 will feature the season’s first Lancaster General Health Fit Family Sunday, where fans will be able to play catch on the field, get autographs before the game, and kids can run the bases after the game!
The team has put together a staggering assortment of theme nights for the 2011 season featuring a mix of some fan favorites and plenty of BRAND NEW promotions. Returning fan favorites include Salute to Veterans (May 26), Cylo’s Birthday (June 12), Scout Night Sleepovers (June 24, August 12), Bark in the Park (June 5) and Brides and Bases (September 4). A sampling of new theme nights include Dancing with the ‘Stormers (May 4, June 4), Band of Brothers Night (June 6), Strike Out Breast Cancer Night (July 23) and Fan vs. Food (August 9).
In addition to numerous theme nights, the Barnstormers boast several unique giveaways during the 2011 season, including a Cinco de Mayo Los Barnstormers t-shirt and a Cylo coloring book! The entire giveaway schedule is listed below:

The team also has an incredible 18 fireworks spectaculars planned, including a show after every Saturday home game this season! The fun continues after the fireworks, as fans are invited onto the field for a post-game party following every fireworks display, where they will have the chance to play catch and collect autographs from their favorite players and Cylo!
Throughout the season, the Barnstormers will welcome several special guests to Clipper Magazine Stadium. Former professional wrestler Jerry “The King” Lawler is slated to drop by on May 19, and the fan-favorite Phillie Phanatic is sure to amuse the crowd with his antics when he pays Cylo a visit on June 3. Band of Brothers Night on June 6 will pay homage to the late Dick Winters and will feature appearances by Easy Company Veterans and actors from the HBO miniseries. Bumblebee and Optimus Prime will also be on hand as part of Transformers Night on June 30, and the Barnstormers’ youngest fans will be ecstatic to meet Brobee and Muno from the popular Nick Jr. TV show Yo Gabba Gabba on July 17. Finally, Batman, Iron Man, Wolverine and Captain America will highlight Superhero Night on July 24.
The Barnstormers have also implemented six weekly promotions for the 2011 season, sure to peak any fan’s interest. Fans can look forward to Sunday Sliders every Sunday home game, where they can enjoy 1.5 hours of unlimited Hess’s BBQ pork sliders, ribs, beer and a game ticket for just $25! Senior Tuesdays will include baseball bingo with a chance to win exciting prizes, and every Wednesday will be Girls’ Night Out sponsored by the Lancaster School of Cosmetology. Girls’ Night Out will offer fans an exclusive seating area, a delicious menu with choices including fresh vegetables, cheese and crackers, grilled chicken breast sandwich, Asian salad, fresh fruit parfait, strawberry shortcake and a beverage for only $25. Every Thursday will be Getaway Thursday and will feature a whopping total of 6 Harrah’s Atlantic City trip giveaways for two over the span of 6 innings of baseball! Select Thursday night games will also feature 1.5 hours of unlimited chicken wings and draft beer in the Wheatland Suite with a game ticket for just $25. Facebook Fridays will encourage fans to follow the Barnstormers on Facebook and “check in” at Friday games for the chance to win amazing prizes like an iPod shuffle. Lastly, kids can run the bases at Clipper Magazine Stadium after every Sunday and Friday home game this season!”

Fans wanting to expand their game-worn jersey collections while helping great causes will have plenty of opportunity to do so this season, with three jersey auctions and a hat auction! Proceeds from the Go Red for Women jersey auction on April 30 will benefit the American Heart Association, while the Band of Brothers jersey auction on June 6 will benefit the Richard Winters Leadership Project. The July 9 jersey auction presented by Wheatland Federal Credit Union will benefit SALSA Baseball and Batters Up USA. Game-worn custom green hats will be auctioned on May 12, with proceeds going to Live Green.
