PRESS RELEASE – The Flying Squirrels have announced that Nike Team will be the presenting sponsor of the Squirrels Nest Merchandise Store at The Diamond. The store will be rebranded as The Squirrels Nest presented by Nike Team. The official merchandise home of the Flying Squirrels will celebrate a Grand Reopening during Flying Squirrels’ Fan Fest on Saturday, March 5th. The reopening will commence with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the doors to the store at 9:00 AM.
“The Nike brand has been the gold standard in athletic apparel for an extremely long time,” said Flying Squirrels’ Executive Director of Food & Beverage/Merchandise Ben Rothrock. “We’re thrilled that this partnership will allow us to offer our fans the very best gear to support the team.”
The Squirrels Nest presented by Nike Team will feature an entirely new line of merchandise for the 2011 season, and Saturday will mark the first time fans will have the ability to purchase all-new caps, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, novelties, and more. The store will also continue to carry Flying Squirrels’ merchandise from a variety of manufacturers and brands, and the store will celebrate its reopening with a special 30% off sale on 2010 merchandise.
“We want to ensure fans that although we are extremely excited to partner with Nike Team, they will continue to enjoy the same great variety of brands we have featured in the past,” added Rothrock.
The Flying Squirrels enjoyed one of the most successful brand unveilings in minor league history during their inaugural season, and were among minor league baseball’s top sellers for the year.
Shoppers will notice new signage throughout the interior of the store on Saturday. New exterior signage will be in place prior to Flying Squirrels 2011 Opening Night on April 7th.
The Flying Squirrels will celebrate the beginning of individual game ticket sales with a free two-day Fan Fest. The event will begin with Parney’s Diamond Camp Out beginning on Friday, March 4th at 7:00 PM. Individual game tickets will go on sale at 9:00 AM at The Diamond, over the phone and online.
