“We are thrilled to see the overwhelming support our community has shown us as we open the new team in Joliet,” Slammers Director of Marketing and Public Relations Sarah H. Eichenberger said. “This event gives us the opportunity to celebrate with our fans and to show our dedication to making baseball a success in Joliet for many years to come.”
The red carpet event will have a number of special guests including hall of famer Maury Wills. Entertainment will be provided by the Blooze Brothers band and recently retired Chicago White Sox organist Nancy Faust. Other guests of honor include local legend Jack Perconte and a number of other ex-players and officials from the game of baseball. Additional guests will be announced in the upcoming days.
The “Grand Slammer” will run on March 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet, IL as the Slammers reveal their team insignia for the first time.
