Loons Unveil Promo Schedule

PRESS RELEASE – It’s a brand new year at Dow Diamond and the Great Lakes Loons front office is excited about the promotional and entertainment line-up scheduled for the upcoming season, as detailed in the attached 2011 Promotional Schedule, which was released today. While a lot of the promotional favorites will be making their return, the schedule also features some new and exciting twists and turns.

“We have had four great seasons of affordable family entertainment with Loons baseball and 2011 will continue to provide quality entertainment to Loons fans,” said Chris Mundhenk, Loons Vice President of Marketing and Entertainment. “In addition to 13 fireworks shows, we are continuing the popular $1 Family Feast Nights and have introduced the Red Wings Legends Series. And that’s just the beginning of it.”

There will be 13 nights featuring the widely popular Fireworks Loontaculars, powered by Dow Corning. The first of the thirteen fireworks nights is Friday, May 20. Due to a limited number of Tuesday home games during the summer months of 2011, the Chemical Bank $1 Family Feast Nights will now take place at each Wednesday home game. Fans can purchase hot dogs, ice cream sandwiches and 12 oz. Coke products for just $1 each.

The Red Wings Legends Series, presented by MidMichigan Health, features three in-person appearances by Red Wings greats and three Red Wings bobblehead giveaways. Players scheduled to visit are former right wing and current FSN Detroit hockey analyst Mickey Redmond (June 2), four-time Stanley Cup Champion Darren McCarty (July 28) and former defenseman/current ESPN hockey analyst Barry Melrose (August 25). All player appearances have been confirmed but are subject to change. Bobbleheads to be given away are Ted Lindsay (June 30), Terry Sawchuk (July 21) and Gordie Howe (August 4). As part of the series, MidMichigan Health will provide fans with health and wellness-themed fairs at each of the six games. The Red Wings Legends Series is a six-game ticket package available for just $54 by calling the Loons ticket office at 989-837-BALL.

Farm Bureau Insurance will again be the presenting sponsor of three Sunday Youth Baseball Clinics (May 22, June 5 and June 19), complete with baseball instruction from Loons players. Farm Bureau Insurance also returns as the presenting sponsor of Kids Run the Bases, following every Sunday afternoon home game.

Every Tuesday home game will be a Dodgers Route of Champions Night. This Dodger-themed promotional series will highlight former Loons players and the storied history of the Los Angeles Dodgers through in-game content, on-field contests and more. As part of the Dodgers Route of Champions promotional series, select Tuesday nights will also feature special appearances from Dodger greats.

Several national entertainment acts will appear at the ballpark throughout the season. Making single-game appearances will be the Amazing Spider-Man (May 7), Birdzerk! (July 22), America’s Got Talent finalists the Russian Bar Trio (July 23), Zooperstars! presented by Charter (July 29) and MSU halftime sensation Zeke the Wonder Dog (August 15). Entertainers with multiple dates include the Chicago Bulls Bucket Boys (June 4, August 13) and traveling paleontologist Paleo Joe, who will be featured in each of the Loons three School Kids Days (May 9, 12 & 26) that begin at 10:35 a.m.
