PRESS RELEASE – Thanks to the combined efforts of the Kansas City T-Bones, the Unified Government and the Wyandotte County Parks Foundation, four new ADA-accessible playgrounds are now open in Wyandotte County.

The new playgrounds are part of an extensive effort to build playgrounds throughout Wyandotte County that are accessible to all children. The Foundation’s goal is to replace eight local facilities with modern playgrounds. The T-Bones, with a $200,000 contribution through the T-Bones Uncommitted Recreation Fund (TURF), helped make construction of the first four playgrounds possible.

The locations of the new ADA-accessible playgrounds are:

• Emerson Park
• Shawnee Park
• Quindaro Park
• City Park

“The Parks and Recreation Department, and the Wyandotte County Parks Foundation, are using this project with the T-Bones organization as a model of what can be accomplished in our community when major stakeholders join together to work toward improving our quality of life,” Unified Government Parks and Recreation Director Gary Salva said.

The T-Bones would like to thank the Unified Government and the Wyandotte County Parks Foundation for their help with this project, and look forward to future community-driven endeavors.

The T-Bones begin their 2011 campaign in El Paso, TX on May 12 and will host the Gary SouthShore RailCats in their home opener on May 17. Season ticket packages and mini-plans are available now by calling 913-328-5618. For information on group outings, call 913-328-5623.  Single game tickets for the exhibition and regular season will go on sale in March.  Visit www.tbonesbaseball.com or follow us on Facebook to stay up-to-date throughout the year.
