Chukars Ballpark Gets New Address

PRESS RELEASE – The Idaho Falls Chukars, and the city of Idaho Falls, are proud to announce a new street address for Melaleuca Field. Previously “568 West Elva Drive”, the home of Chukars will now have the address, “900 Jim Garchow Way”.

Jim Garchow, who was the longtime broadcaster of the Idaho Falls Chukars, passed away, September 20th, 2009. Jim’s death came just weeks after the Chukars ended their 2009 season, which marked his 39th year broadcasting professional baseball in Idaho Falls. Although it’s still unofficial, Garchow had the longest tenure with one organization in all of Minor League Baseball.

The following statement was provided by Jim Garchow’s daughters (Gina Berger, Stacey Mason, and Kelly Palmer) and grandchildren:

“Our family could not have thought of a better tribute to such an inspirational man. In his 40 years broadcasting in Idaho Falls there was nothing he enjoyed more than the time spent and people met at the ball park. Words cannot express how appreciative we are of this timeless honor. Knowing he has touched so many lives has helped ease the pain his absence has left. Thanks to the City of Idaho Falls and the Chukars Organization, his spirit and legacy lives on forever.”
