Screwball, Crazy Hot Dog Vendor Going Door-to-Door this Valentine’s Day

PRESS RELEASE – Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and the Reading Phillies, the Double-A affiliate of the 2010 National League East champion Philadelphia Phillies, are spreading love around Berks County.

This year on Valentine’s Day (Monday, February 14), the Reading Phillies are continuing with an exciting team tradition, and are sending two of their most popular mascots door-to-door to spread the holiday cheer. With help from Rock Hits Y-102, Royer’s Flowers and Gifts, and Reppert’s Candies, the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor and Screwball will deliver roses, R-Phils tickets, and more to R-Phils fans just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Whether it’s for your sweetheart, or for your child, each package, along with the mascot of your choice, will serve as a great way to surprise your valentine this year. Each package includes four yellow box seats to a 2011 R-Phils game, and the choice of either a box of one dozen, long-stem roses, or a personalized R-Phils jersey, which can be sent to your loved one’s residence or workplace. A personalized message can also be included in the package.

While R-Phils mascot Screwball has participated in this event since its inception, the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor is back for his second-straight year of deliveries. And, while Rodrigo, the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor’s beloved ostrich will once again sit this one out, the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor is more excited than ever to go door-to-door.

“Last year was so much fun — I can’t wait to do it again,” said the Crazy Hot Dog Vendor. “The best part is catching fans off-guard and yelling really loud for all to hear. I learned last year that while throwing roses is a little different than throwing hot dogs, making R-Phils fans happy is the most important thing of all.”

This year, the the R-Phils are offering fans three great packages — with package one being brand-new and including more than ever before.
