Snappers Positive Financial Streak Continues

PRESS RELEASE – The Beloit Professional Baseball Association, Inc. is proud to announce another successful year of providing affordable, family entertainment to the Stateline Area.

The Association, which owns and operates the Beloit Snappers Baseball Team, a class “A” affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, has finished the 2010 fiscal year in the positive, continuing its streak of positive financial finishes dating back to the 2003 season.

“This year provided another season of unique challenges because of the economy but I am very excited to say that we have run our streak of finishing in the black to eight seasons in a row,” remarked Beloit Snappers General Manager Jeff Vohs. “This achievement continues to give us the opportunity to re-invest in the current operation, reduce old debt and keep moving forward with our pursuit of a new multi-use facility for the Stateline Region.”

Revenue categories such as corporate sponsorships, birthday parties, the all-inclusive ticket option and group outings finished in the top two in the franchise’s 29 year history.

“Fans still wanted to be entertained and wanted to come out to see future major league players, but we definitely saw that they were looking for the best deal possible for their entertainment dollar,” stated Vohs.

“We continue to help fill that need with the lowest sports entertainment ticket prices in the Stateline Area, and many different options for fans to include admission and food options in one low price. When you add in the entertainment value – from professional, affiliated baseball, great giveaways and the most fireworks shows in the area – Snappers Baseball is a home run for everyone.”

As a not-for-profit sports team, the Association continues to be a unique gem to Beloit and the Stateline Area. Many different people and groups are responsible for the continued success and stability of the franchise.

“We have many people to thank for our success in 2010 and during the history of the franchise,” remarked Snappers Board President Perry Folts. “The reason we have been able to operate for 29 seasons is because of the efforts of our volunteer Board of Directors, hundreds of game day volunteers, continuing hard work of the staff and the thousands of fans that support the team and players, year in and year out. The organization continues to be able to provide affordable, professional baseball to the Stateline Area because of the efforts and support of those groups. We would like to say thank you to everyone for making us who we are.”

The Snappers organization continues to work towards making a multi-use facility a reality for the team and the Stateline Community. A new ballpark would not only provide a modern baseball experience for fans and players, but it would provide a venue which could be used for events, trade shows, concerts, receptions, dinners and other year-round entertainment.

“A new facility is still needed in order to keep professional baseball in the area for the long-term because of the changes and expectations of the industry and fan experiences,” Vohs said. “However new stadiums are something much more than just a place to play baseball. They are community centers used year round for many different kinds of events. It would be a jewel and a source of great pride for the Stateline Area. The continued support of the Beloit Community and the entire Stateline Region, in terms of both business sponsorships and our fan attendance on game days at Pohlman Field, has given us the opportunity to continue working towards making a new facility a reality.”

The Beloit Snappers will open up their 30th season of baseball in the Midwest League on the road on Thursday, April 7th, 2011. The team’s home opener will be on Monday, April 11th against the Clinton LumberKings, an affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30PM at Pohlman Field.

“The start of our 30th season of professional, affiliated baseball at Pohlman Field is not that far away,” Vohs reminded everyone. “The team will be arriving in town in only 127 days and we don’t want anyone to miss the action at the ballpark. Make sure to join us on Facebook and Twitter, along with watching our website and e-newsletter for great deals and all your Snappers information. And we’ll see you at the ballpark!”
