PRESS RELEASE – The Fort Wayne TinCaps passed the 400,000 mark in season attendance Monday in the regular-season finale at Parkview Field. This is the second straight season in which the TinCaps have set a franchise attendance record.
“This is just another example of our fans being some of the best in all of minor-league sports,” TinCaps president Mike Nutter said. “Our attendance this year was better than several Double-A teams and even a few Triple-A teams. We look forward to seeing more electric crowds during the playoffs.”
Monday’s crowd of 5,121 brought the season total to 404,942, passing the old record of 378,529 set last year in the inaugural season at Parkview Field. This means attendance increased by nearly seven percent from 2009.
The TinCaps open a best-of-three playoff series against the Great Lakes Loons (Class-A Los Angeles Dodgers) Wednesday at Parkview Field at 7:05 p.m. Fort Wayne RHP Matt Lollis (5-2) draws the starting nod against Great Lakes RHP Allen Webster (12-9). A post-game fireworks show is scheduled along with a fleece scarf giveaway to the first 1,000 fans.
Playoff tickets are available online at TinCaps.com, by phone at (260) 482-6400 or in person at the TinCaps’ box office located at the corner of Ewing and Brackenridge Streets in downtown Fort Wayne.
